About us

THA Football Centres are provided by a Football Coaching Company registered in England and Wales and founded by Simon, Sam & Ethan Holmshaw. The Company was founded with the purpose to coach children and adults in football to create the all-rounded football player. This is achieved by delivering sessions that encourage both creativity and adaptability.

Background

Our founder’s Simon, Sam and Ethan Holmshaw are all unique to most families in that they are all passionate football coaches involved in both senior and junior sport. In 2009, after becoming frustrated at the coaching he observed in his son Jacobs junior football team, Simon decided to set up his own club called Drakehouse Dragons Junior Football Club for his own boys, where he felt he could help develop them, and other boys & girls from the local community to become better players, and better people.

What then followed years later where his two sons, Sam & Ethan getting involved with the coaching process at the junior club. And for the last 10 years, the trio has coached together on various different projects within both the Sheffield and Leeds areas, now finding themselves a part of the management team of the Ilkley Town AFC Women’s first team.

Simon, Sam and Ethan all have a passion for coaching, creating environments that allow participants to grow as both people and players, something they have taken with them everywhere they have coached.

In 2020, 11 years on from the formation of Drakehouse Dragon’s and after 8 years of coaching together, the trio finally decided to set up their own football academy. After just short of 30 years coaching experience collectively in grassroots amateur and academy level football, the trio felt it was the right time to form their own academy based on the principles, beliefs and value they had collectively developed from their experiences in order to ‘create an environment that optimises personal and performance development within each football players that joins The Holmshaw Academy.

Purpose

In our opinion, too many football sessions across senior and junior sport do not offer players opportunities to experience creativity and adaptability, in which are two extremely important elements to the football game.

Our coaching sessions and behaviours are designed to allow players to be creative, let them make mistakes, invent new technical solutions and help produce players that are competent to play in every position on the football pitch, in order to attempt to create ‘the all-rounded player‘.
